It’s Giving Tuesday, and we thought it was the perfect opportunity to talk about some of the causes that Bent Water Brewing supports on an annual basis – some more recently, and others since before the brewery was even born.
Each cause and nonprofit partner is chosen based on what it means to our team, families, and customers: from helping veterans to raising funds for Parkinson’s research to battling hunger inequality right here on our very doorstep.
We’re thankful for the work all these organizations are doing to make their communities better places, and excited to continue partnering with each of them in doing this critical work.
To learn more about all the wonderful nonprofits we support – and how you can support them, read a bit more about each one below. And if you are able, please consider donating to one (or more) of these wonderful organizations today!
— Team Fox – The grassroots arm of the global nonprofit Michael J. Fox Foundation, dedicated to creating a world where Parkinson’s Disease no longer exists. Members of the Bent Water team and family have been impacted directly by this disease, and have raised awareness and funds to battle it for years. In 2021, Bent Water Brewing released Common Hope in partnership with Team Fox: the first-ever national beer collaboration with a goal of raising funds for Parkinson’s Research.
— Special Operators Transition Foundation – Since 2013, the SOTF (formerly known as Our Grateful Nation) has specialized in transitioning special operations veterans from the service into great careers in corporate America. We’re actively in the process of raising money towards an end of year target goal, and would greatly appreciate any help getting over the finish line. Link to the Bent Water donation page can be found here.
— My Brother’s Table – The mission of My Brother’s Table, the largest soup kitchen on Boston’s North Shore, is to provide nourishment to the needy through hospitality, free meals, and unconditional love. A great way to contribute to this nonprofit – particularly during the season of gift-giving – is to purchase the collaborative cookbook, ‘To Nourish’, which features recipes from supporters, volunteers, superlative chefs, and even a few from Bent Water Brewing!
— Winter Walk – A nonprofit raising awareness and funds to end homelessness in our communities. Each year, members of the Bent Water team take part in the annual walk and raise awareness for the nonprofit.
— NEMBA – We’re proud to play a substantial part in supporting the mission of NEMBA (New England Mountain Bike Association) to promote responsible mountain biking and to protect and preserve New England trails and open space. Several members of our team – including our co-founder and CEO Aaron Reames – even count mountain biking as a personal hobby and passion.
— Beyond Walls – Located in our brewery’s home city of Lynn, this experience-based nonprofit partners with local community members and experts to design, produce, and manage collaborative projects and programs that activate unused city spaces and introduce art and culture.
— The YMCA of Metro North – The YMCA is the leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities by empowering young people, improving the health and well-being of people of all ages, and inspiring action in and across communities. The YMCA of Metro North operates right in our backyard, with facilities in Lynn, Saugus, Peabody, and Melrose.
