Bent Water’s Double Thunder Funk can art tied for Gold in the Craft Beer Marketing Awards in the category of Best Can Design 16oz. In a highly competitive category, we are honored by this recognition.
Double Thunder Funk is the big, bad sibling of our top selling IPA, Thunder Funk. The recipe started as a joke: let’s double our Thunder Funk recipe! That turned into the creation and refining of Bent Water’s first Double IPA, Double Thunder Funk, which is now one of our top selling beers.
This is also one of the first graphic labels to be designed. The gorillas bring the thunder and add that extra level of “funk” that a Double IPA offers. Bent Water’s original can designs were inspired by the idea of creating the illusion of movement. As a graphic label, the artist kept with this theme of movement as the gorillas give the feeling of a “crushable” beer.
Our website just won two awards of recognition. We took Platinum in the Craft Beer Marketing Awards for Best Website Design/Best use of video and photography and we won the Branding category in the Communicator Awards.
Bent Water Brewing is heading into its sixth year of operation and it was time for a new website. The original website played heavily on the visuals of our can labels, which helped to solidify brand recognition in the marketplace. But as the company grew, so did the brand and demands for a more robust website. Aside from better functionality for our partners and consumers, we wanted to make sure people who visited our website got to know Bent Water, no matter how near or far they lived in proximity to the brewery.
So, the Bent Water team tasked the web developers, contributing photographer, and film creators with the following: Bent Water is a production facility, located in an industrial park. There is a lot of machinery and tanks. Our team is focused on delivering a consistently high quality product and they work hard.
At the same time, we have these vibrant beer labels that are fun and our team is also made up of very creative, fun and funny individuals. Bring all of that together in a way that is visually intriguing and complementary.
Also, we are really into science, have a sophisticated lab, and a lot of technology that we want to share with the public. Make that interesting for the average craft beer enthusiast. Lastly, we want to include a brewery tour. Every brewery has a brewhouse and tanks, so make the tour engaging and unique. Now go!
Once you’ve looked through our new website, I think you’ll agree that the web developers, contributing photographer, and filmmakers took this charge and far exceeded all expectations. You will find that our website has a logical, clear flow that is informative, visually balances the industrial with the colorful, and includes four videos that bring viewers deeper into the world of Bent Water…from tears to laughter, honesty to jokes, and everything in between.
