Brown Bread Beer
Style: Ale Brewed with Toasted Brown Bread
We are proud to have attended this year’s Hyper-Local Craft Brew Fest, where participating brewers were asked to debut a special beer using local ingredients. Our brew team came up with a pretty crazy idea to brew a beer using classic New England canned brown bread, which is made in Portland, ME. Prior to brewing the bread was removed from its can, sliced, and toasted. It was then treated like brewer’s malt and incorporated into the mash. The result is a highly unique brown ale with notes of toast, caramel and spice.
Tasting Notes: Toast, Molasses, Caramel
